DCM Autocentres:
Driving 2.1 Million Views for a Local Automotive Garage in One Month via Organic TikTok Strategy

The challenge for automotive repair shops on social media

When taking over social media management for DCM Autocentres in October, the garage faced a common challenge for independent service businesses; they had a high-level of technical expertise on the shop floor, but lacked a structured organic marketing strategy to convert daily mechanics' work into customer engagement and online bookings.

The work they did across their 2 garages spoke for itself in terms of customer retention and they had a plethora of Google Reviews for each branch that highly reflected their internal structure.

However, when it came to their social media platforms, their initial digital footprint presented several key growth obstacles:

  • Low Organic Reach - Their Facebook reach averaged under 3,100 impressions per month and their Instagram engagement was minimal, with a follower count full of bots.

  • Non-Existent Short-Form Video - TikTok was essentially at zero, starting with just 21 followers and it didn't show any real people, it was all just memes with a significant lack of expertise, knowledge or value behind the content.

  • Lack of Consistency - They had an adhoc, inconsistent posting schedule and no plan for topics, hooks or conversions.

The organic growth strategy

To solve these challenges, I built an organic social media marketing framework focused on creating content that offered value to the audience whilst being entertaining and humanising the DCM brand, specified for the automotive industry, whilst navigating shy staff members that were initially reluctant to participant, which is a common occurance across businesses of any size.

1. Initial Social Media Audit & Quarterly Strategy Refinement

I began with an in-depth social media audit to evaluate what automotive topics encourage people to spark conversation and debate as well as interest. Instead of a one-time setup, I established a quarterly strategy review to continuously analyse performance metrics, platform algorithm changes and local engagement.

2. Consistency Is Key

Building authority requires consistent signals. I implemented a strict 4/5 posts-per-week schedule across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok. This kept DCM Autocentres top-of-mind for Dorset drivers while feeding positive signals to search and platform algorithms.

3. High-Intent Video Strategy: "Cars That Won't Reach 100k Miles"

Rather than publishing generic corporate promotions that don't encourage engagement, I tapped into natural viewer curiosity by asking mechanics their real, unfiltered opinions, most notably discussing 'which cars struggle to hit 100,000 miles'.

By opening with strong visual and audio hooks, clear text overlays and trending audio, the video drove massive organic debate, watch time and viral algorithmic reach across TikTok which resulted in 1.7 million views on that single TikTok.

TikTok analytics for an automotive garage

Whilst going viral with 1.7 million views sounds like an incredible scenario, the real test behind going viral comes into play when you can see the impressions turn into followers. This is how you build consistency and an engaged audience.

As I watched the impression count grow, I was also carefully monitoring the amount of saves, shares and follows we received from that one video. Our follower count grew by 480.87% from the previous month, which was testament to the foundation I had built from the previous organic posts as we had reached our target audience.

Key Results & Organic Growth Metrics

By pairing structured posts with high-curiosity automotive video content, in a single month the campaign achieved exceptional growth across Meta and TikTok with the following metrics coming from one video:

IMPRESSIONS

2,195,153

ENGAGEMENT

80,950+

FOLLOWERS

1,180+

LINK CLICKS

70+

These are HUGE numbers for a small independent garage to achieve in a single month!

Converting Viral Views into Garage Revenue

Going viral builds awareness, but sustainable business growth requires converting scrollers into paying customers. The real success of hitting 2.1 million impressions wasn’t just the view count, it was the brand trust and momentum it created by turning watchers into followers so that our brand kept popping up in their mind, which is how I slowly built the online community of an engaged audience for DCM Autocentres.

By anchoring viral video reach with a consistent schedule, a coherent user journey and service-focused copy, we converted passive viewers into long-term followers and active website visits. Instead of letting the views fade, we leveraged the traffic spike to establish DCM Autocentres as experts within the industry and the go-to automotive authority in Dorset, driving long-term booking enquiries.
